There is a great number of events in the area over the year. Some of them are traditional, even centuries-long, and some are more contemporary with the aim of enriching the tourist season...

Ethno Festival

With the initial help of the American foundation USAID in 2005, the first festival was organized under the name Eastern Serbia Ethno Festival. From then on, every year in late June, this manifestation is organized in the center of the town with the aim of promoting traditional and cultural values in this region. Numerous performances of folklore ensembles and exhibition stands of handcraft, food and drinks producers, as well as rich cultural and entertainment programme make the streets of Kladovo alive during the day and night.

Danube Days

Celebration of the Danube Days is a traditional event for majority of towns on the Danube and, with the help of the Water Directorate and the relevant Ministry, it has been celebrated for several years in a row in Kladovo. The Danube Days celebration in Kladovo is a special experience since the programme is directed to the youngest ones in a most beautiful manner, in cooperation with the elementary schools in Kladovo Municipality. Children songs, dances, literary and art works and photos make the streets of Kladovo more beautiful during the hot days in July and all with the aim of praising the Danube. Knowledge quizzes, best works competitions and gifts by the Water Directorate and Coca-cola-Hellenic T-shirts and refreshing beverages are what teachers and pupils from all over Kladovo Municipality remember.

Blue Week Festival

Blue Week Festival was created by DCC with the help of a local donation by Kladovo Tourist Organization GIZ, with the aim of remaining sustainable and becoming traditional. The concept of the festival is promote and develop the Danube the towns, countries and DCC members connected by the Danube during the festival days by exchanging cultural, economic, sports and tourism values and potentials. This year, Blue Week festival shone for 7 days, June 19th-26th, with its blue lights, songs and dances, art exhibitions, sport competitions, creative workshops, children carnivals, representations of the traditional local knowledge and crafts.

The concept of the festival is to promote and develop the Danube the towns, countries and DCC members connected by the Danube during the festival days by exchanging cultural, economic, sports and tourism values and potentials.


The Assumption Day Funfair

Every August 28th, for centuries now, the area allocated for Kaldovo’s funfair is filled with tents and stands of manufacturers and restaurant owners, while the fun park is full of entertainment equipment and carousels. The smell of doughnuts and delicious barbeque spreads through the funfair ground, and loud music comes from different directions. The funfair lasts for at least two days filled with joy.

Đerdap Regatta: Tekija – Kladovo – Kusjak

The Regatta TKK is a four-day regatta held in July which starts from Tekija early in the morning and reaches Kusjak in the neighboring Negotin Municipality, with four stages and overnight breaks. This Regatta has a decade long tradition and after those four days on the water, the participants return full of impressions and adventures. The organizers, the Kayak Club Tekija and Kladovo Tourist Organization, provide transportation of the boats from Kusjak to Kaldovo or Tekija.

Zlatna bućka Đerdapa

One of the local manifestations of the contemporary age with the longest tradition of almost three decades is Zlatna bućka Đerdapa, which takes place in Tekija in the first half of August. It refers to the competition in a traditional method of catching catfish, however it also includes various cultural-educational activities and events.

St. Tryphon – Fruit and Wine Growers

Every year, on February 14th, the Fruit and Wine Growers Association in Kladovo, in the spirit of the Orthodox tradition, celebrates their day – St. Tryphon. The Tourist Organization helps in choosing the best products in the categories of brandies and wines at this celebration, and the competition always ends with a party organized for all the winners.

Exhibition of Honey and Bee Products

September is reserved for the Exhibition of Honey and Bee Products when bee keepers from Kladovo Municipality can present their products on the stands in the centre of the town. This is always a good opportunity for tourists and the locals to get well prepared for the winter by buying the famous Kladovo honey.
